Support Our Local
Small Business Community
To support our local small businesses, City of Salinas staff and the Economic Recovery Taskforce will be putting forward initiatives to encourage residents to shop local and support the marketing of businesses in Salinas.
About the Economic and Recovery Taskforce
The Small Business Economic and Recovery Task Force was initiated specifically to address the economic impact of the global pandemic. As essential workers returned to work at the end of Spring 2020, with the support of the City Council of Salinas, key stakeholders were brought together, establishing a working group that was inclusive of County and City staff, business organization representation, and individual business owners. Initially, the primary focus was to identify the needs of the community and as a resource center to leverage and communicate resources for small business and updates on the constant changing COVID-19 restrictions. As we navigated through the changes, the Task Force’s collaboration resulted in bold and creative strategies to help our business community during a difficult time.
Current Initiatives
Celebrate the holidays by shopping at your favorite local establishments! To support our small business community, the City of Salinas, in collaboration with SUBA, will hold a Christmas Loteria in the Alisal District from December st - December 31st.
What is Salinas Loteria?
The Salinas Lotería initiative seeks to engage locals and visitors by encouraging them to invest in and celebrate the Alisal District's culture. The game is based on the classic Latin American bingo game Lotería , but with a local twist.
Furthermore, Salinas Lotería is a "shop local" campaign that encourages residents to explore and discover local businesses while also supporting their favorite stores. The campaign will begin as a pilot initiative in the Alisal Area, with the prospect of being expanded citywide, with each city district themed with a holiday (Valentine's Day, Christmas, Halloween, and so on).
